About
Our mission is to improve neonatal and pediatric healthcare and ultimately have a positive impact on children’s well-being.
Our strength stems from a combination of ICFO’s expertise in advanced photonics technology and its exploitation for innovation of healthcare and SJD’s primary role in the care of infants, children and adolescents and in related biomedical and clinical research.
Shared research projects aim to:
Understand neonatal and pediatric diseases.
Develop new tools to diagnose, monitor and treat neonatal and pediatric diseases.
Welcome to ICFO-SJD Joint Lab
This is a joint project between Institut de Recerca Sant Joan de Déu and ICFO to promote interdisciplinary research activities to boost the development and application of photonic technologies as innovative solutions for the care of the neonatal and pediatric population. The program starts with three ambitious research lines and aspires to expand in the future.

We receive the visit of the Fundació la Nineta dels Ulls
Last week we had the pleasure of having the visit of the Fundació La Nineta dels Ulls to learn about the progress of the Raman Microscopy research project for the stratification of retinoblastoma patients to achieve an effective and personalized treatment. The visit was attended by Carme Julià, Anna Salvatella and Joan Carles Castillo.

The mission of Institut de Recerca Sant Joan de Déu (IRSJD) is to carry out research on the health problems faced by paediatric medicine and on how these problems affect human development, with the aim of improving the health and quality of life.
The Institut de Recerca Sant Joan de Déu is managed by the Fundació de Recerca Sant Joan de Déu.
